Product Review: Pattern Beauty Shower Brush

If you’re a curly girl like me, then you know that having the right tools can make or break a hair style. My old faithful, the Denman brush has occasionally failed me, however, there’s a new brush that I’d recently heard mixed reviews about, so I decided to try it for myself.

Just to give you a snapshot of my hair on the 1-4 ABC scale, it is 3B/4A – it’s extremely curly and soft, but EXTREMELY thick and low porosity (meaning it is hard for my hair to get moisture in and retain it). I don’t really use any methods of Liquid, Oil and Cream (LOC) or Liquids, Cream and Oil (LCO). I typically do wash-and-goes every 3-5 days. I use all moisturizing products from my shampoo to my styling products and I use a decent amount of protein in order to avoid moisture fatigue.

So, I typically get out of the shower, use a microfiber towel to soak up an excess moisture after deep conditioning with a heated cap. I then spray my hair with a mixture of Aloe Vera juice and water, after, I put in the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and follow it up with the original Wetline Extreme Gel.

Before I put in the gel I used the brush with the smoothie in my hair for slip, I like to detangle at this point. When I tell you that this brush coated every inch of my hair with product, I am so impressed that each of my strains were given equal treatment because of this brush it really did. I also was able to get through my extremely kinky and thick areas faster than normal. I feel very comfortable using this brush with any other product and getting the same results.

I use the Denman brush to define my curls, clump them together and work the product through my hair and with the Pattern Beauty brush it glided through my hair. It was sturdy and felt like it could tackle my kinks and coils. I really love this brush and, although a little pricy, it is worth the $17! I love it and I think that if you have thick hair that is difficult to detangle at times, than you should go for it!
