She’s as playful as a pussycat! The Rhapsody tour was last night in my hometown of Washington D.C., and I was in awe that I was even sharing the same space with legends like Brian May and Rodger Taylor. The original band is composed of the lead singer Freddie Mercury, Guitarist Brian May, Bassist John Deacon, and Drummer Rodger Taylor. Sadly, the lead singer passed away of AIDS on November 24, 1991.
I Had Complete FOMO
Also known as Fear Of Missing Out, the millennial generation is full of FOMO. I thought I was going to die if I didn’t see this show. I didn’t think I would have the opportunity to see them again, they are getting up there in age and I thought this would be the last time that they would go on tour. On Saturday July 27th at 1:27 a.m. (three days before the concert) I looked on Stubhub in an effort to get tickets at the last minute, I definitely did not think for one second that I was going to get a ticket, HOWEVER, I was able to miraculously get one!
Prepping For The Concert
I was BEYOND excited that I got a ticket, so the only thing left was to actually prepare for the concert. I feel like prepping for a Queen concert is like prepping for a test that you’ll never have the answers to. They have SO many songs, but I pretty much listened to the majority of their albums on repeat until the day of the concert.
When My Love Of Queen Actually Started
I like to ride my bicycle, I like to ride my bike! The reason why I love Queen is because they were different, one of my favorite songs by them is Bicycle Race! I remember when I was in 8th grade I heard Bicycle Race playing for the morning announcements in order to promote bike rides to raise money – I HAD to know who sang that song, and that’s when my love affair with Queen began.
I liked them before the movie came out, however – the movie was amazing!
Did Adam Lambert Do Freddie Mercury Justice As A Front Man?!
I actually have mixed feeling about this, although, yes – Adam Lambert is an amazing singer – I LOVE Freddie’s alibis- how, he could literally take a song and add so much flare to it with his Eeeeh dop, de dop, dep dop. I really enjoyed Adam’s singing and paired with Brian May’s guitar playing, it was absolutely perfect! I will always see Freddie as the lead singer to Queen, however Adam did a lovely job and the show was fantastic!
