A Step-By-Step Guide To Packing The Best Mason Jar Salad

A mason jar is a prefect way to transport delicious and nutritious salads! Who wants to pack a salad with the worry that the dressing will spill in our bags?! Luckily a mason jar is a nifty way to prevent this! But beware, if you assemble a mason jar salad improperly, you run the risk of soggy or less appealing salad. No need to fear, we’re here to help – with this step-by-step guide we’ll keep your salads fresh and tasty.

1.Start With dressing

The key to a mason jar salad is to layer, start with the dressing at the bottom – 3 to 4 tablespoons of dressing per quart jar.

2. The Base Layer

Next, add a base layer – this can consist of carrots, cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, or chickpeas. Make sure the base layer is an ingredient that doesn’t soak up dressing.

3.  More Layering!

Now that you have your base layer, you can layer even more! Pack the layers tightly, the less air between layers, the more likely the salad will remain fresh.

4. Finish Your Salad With Cheese And Greens At The Top

By putting greens and cheese on top, you create a moisture barrier that prevents the entire salad from becoming soggy.

5. Seal the lid and refrigerate!
