After his 12 year career as the CEO of Alexander McQueen, Johnathan Akeroyd will be taking his talents elsewhere. The beloved Fashion House, Versace has appointed him as their new CEO. He will be replacing Gian Giacoamo Ferraris, the Chief executive officer of Versace since 2009. The announcement of Akeroyd’s departure was made earlier this month. Emmanuel Gintzburger, formally the director of retail and wholesale at Yves Saint Laurent, will be taking Akeroyd’s place.
“We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Akeroyd as our new CEO,” Donatella Versace, vice president, exclaimed that Akeroyd “brings a proven track record in building global brands, steering growth and driving strategic development. Jonathan Akeroyd’s industry expertise and vision will be key to advancing the next phase of Versace’s development.”
After being at McQueen for 12 years, it is unknown why Akeroyd went to Versace or why Ferraris is being replaced. Akeroyd is said to be starting as the new CEO in Mid-June. Whether or not he will relocate to Milan for his new position is still not known, but there have not been many details released on this subject.
I am curious to see what this new CEO has to offer Versace. I am also curious to see how Alexander McQueen will operate under a new CEO. All we can do is wait and watch!
