Last night, Tommy Hilfiger and Zendaya brought another collaboration to New York Fashion Week, the setting for the show was Harlem’s famous Apollo Theater. The landmark in the historically African American neighborhood was the stage for a 1970’s themed collection and housed the ‘Block Party’ styled runway show.
Differing from last season’s ‘Disco’ themed collection, this line was more fitted – the clothes heavily relied on tailoring and patterns. Some of the amazing models that walked the runway included Halima Aden, Precious Lee, Winnie Harlow, Candice Swanepoel, Ebonee Davis, and Ashley Graham. The diversity of the models were great – the age ranged from twenties and up, race, and size. The Block Party had live music and performances.
Read below the note that he wrote about the partnership with Zendaya
“This evening also marks the end of my two-season collaboration with Zendaya and image architect, Law Roach. With redefined power dressing at its core, the collection’s bold tailored pieces are infused with a modern twist that celebrate the strength that comes from fearlessly being your true self. We didn’t want to hold anything back tonight, with Zendaya’s vision, dedication and strong voice bringing a unique edge to our collaboration. She has an important message to tell, and sharing our platform to express her creativity has been an honor.”
