New York Fashion Week: Yajun

Yajun debuted her Spring 2019 collection at Spring Studios on Monday September 10th. There was a dead silence in the room as we all waited in anticipation for the show to begin. I’m always shocked to hear absolutely nothing before a runway show – I always hear the crowd chattering before about their curiosity of what’s to come, however when the lights dimmed and the brand’s name illuminated, the music started to play, and the show began!

Yajun’s collection was a representation of modern silhouettes meets streetwear. The models wore headpieces that were indicative of the industrial feel of some of the pieces in the collection. Each model had simple makeup with a red lip, and their hair slicked back, I believe the simplistic nature of their appearance was because they did not want to distract from the headpieces and the clothing. The garments themselves were flowy and chic. The prints were subtle and unique. Many models even wore very fashionable glasses. Yajun combined street style with Asian influences.

I always enjoy a different rendition of street style and Yajun delieved it! This collection is definitely enjoyable! I really liked her work and can’t wait to see more from this designer.
