New York Fashion Week: Dan Liu

Alluding to his Japanese culture Dan Liu’s showcase started off with a performance of a man dressed in traditional Japanese garb, the music was calming as the audience watched in awe of the performance. I was impressed that Liu tied his roots into his showcase.

As I gazed at the runway in astonishment, I was anxious to see what Liu would do next- his collections are always so unique and versatile. The showcase started off with white garments with intricate lacy detailing. I knew that Liu had something up his sleeve, but what?! As the show kept going on I was pleasantly surprised to see the different color combinations – each was better than the next! I waited and watched, still trying to figure out what Liu was hidding, and then the next model walked out. Cat headpieces! I completely adored them! Coordinated to each outfit the headpieces were the cherry on top to his collection!

This show was amazing! I was very surprised by the use of headpieces, as well as the influence of Asian culture. The models’ makeup was very much influenced by Liu’s culture! I really loved the show!
