Vivienne Tam is a designer who takes much inspiration from blending cultures together -the east meets the west-she was also inspired by the the intense hues of NASA’s emblem. She prides herself on the textured overlays and the intricate embellishment work displayed in her clothing. Her garments, paired with the uniqueness of her collection as a whole was superior. She combined both of her main inspirations to create a “Space Cowboy” look – in the collection there are hints of western and eastern visuals.
As I walked into my second Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show I couldn’t help but feel absolutely amazing! The long line to get into the Vivienne Tam show was well worth it -when I finally got inside the venue, it look as though a concert was about to take place. I couldn’t believe my eyes -the place was full of stylish attendees! As the lights dimmed, the show began – it starting off with a video from a NASA astronaut – as the screen went blank, intense rock music started to play. As the first model graced the runway, I knew this show would be amazing. The colors in each garment were brilliant -with hues of Astro orange and Blue. The pigments in her palette offset each other in a marvelous way! The floral prints were extremely vibrant and there were wonderful pops of color in her show! There was also a futuristic element to the clothing that I enjoyed!
Nonetheless, this show was fantastic and the collection was dynamic. Vivienne’s cross-cultural showcase was phenomenal! What are your thoughts?!
