Jennifer Lopez is making headlines again and this time it’s not necessarily positive, this comes on the heels of Lopez closing Versace’s Milan fashion show in her iconic jungle dress that she debuted on the red carpet at the Grammys in 2000. J.Lo’s new movie is considered to have lewd content (the film contains nudity, explicit language and adult situations) and therefore, is being banned in Malaysia.
The mother of two, and actress stars in the new movie Hustlers -a movie about a group of strippers who drugged their Wall Street clients in order financially earn more during the recession of 2008. The star studded cast includes Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Lizzo and Cardi B.
Malaysia’s film censorship committee says that it is “not suitable for public screening”. Hustlers film distribution company, Square Box Pictures, made a statement via Instagram:
“We regret to inform you that Hustlers movie release has been cancelled as it has been banned in Malaysia. We deeply apologise for the inconveniences caused to our beloved followers, fans of the movie, medias and partners.
“We certainly appreciate all the love and support from our fans and movie lovers for this title; yet it’s our loss that we are unable to carry on. Our sincere apologies that we have let you down.”
